The Artist Residencies are set in the 400-year-old cells of C-Wing, the former women’s Wing at Shepton Mallet Prison. Alongside 12 other female artists. I have been looking at the reason why women in the 1800s were incarcerated and how long their sentencing was.​​​​​​​
Emma Rose 1869 Guilty of being drunk and riotous sentenced to 7days hard labour
Caroline Cage 1877 is Guilty of wilfully throwing herself into a moat with intent to kill and murder herself. 
sentenced to 3 months hard labour at Shepton mallet prison.  
Using this found painting (a print) I have collaged these female figures to show their crimes. This collage along with a series of other works can be seen within the prison cell at Shepton Mallet. This work is a digital collage that I have later added animation effects to.
